Here is an edited re-re-post from earlier because I get a lot of questions about this. I get a lot of people inquiring two things: who wrote the songs we do and where can I get them? So here are a few of the songs we've been doing and all the info I can offer for you...
First of all, one of the main bands we take from for our Sunday mornings is UnitedAUS from Hillsong Church in Australia. United is their younger band, they have numerous CD's, many of which come with a free DVD of a live worship event as well. The DVD's are amazing to watch, very inspiring. Here's a few with their respective albums that can be found and a lyric or two to help you identify it:
Album: Look to You (Yellow Cover)
Look to You: (So I look to You...No one else will do...)
All I Need is You: (All I need is You, Lord, is You, Lord..)
Album: More Than Life (Blue Cover, comes with great DVD)
Open Up the Heavens: (Open up the heavens and let Your glory fall...)
Take All of Me: (I love You, all of my hope is in You, Jesus Christ, take my life, take all of me)
Majesty: (Majesty, majesty, Your grace has found me just as I am...)
Always: (All You are, is all I want, oh Lord, draw me close in Your arms...oh God, I want to be with You...)
Sing: (It used to be darkness...without You...)
Consuming Fire: (There must be more than this...Consuming fire, fan into flames...)
More Than Life: (I love You more than life...)
Album: United We Stand (Black Cover)
Fire Fall Down: (I know that You're alive, You came to fix my broken life...Let Your fire fall down, on us, we pray...)
The Time has Come (AKA "Today"): (Today, today, I live for one thing, all the way, I give my praise to You...the time has come to stand for what we believe in...)
From the Inside Out: (Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades...and the cry of my heart is to bring You praise from the inside out...)
Came to My Rescue: (I called, You answered, and You came to my rescue and I, want to be where You are....In my life, be lifted high, in our world, be lifted high, in our love, be lifted high)
Here's some other random bands/songs that we have picked over the years to minister to our church family:
"40" by U2. Album: "War." The song, taken straight out of Pslam 40, states in the chorus, "I will sing, sing a new song...How I long to sing this song..."
"Everything" by Lifehouse. Album: "No Name Face"
"How Great is our God" by Chris Tomlin. Album: "Arriving"
Originals
Aside from the worship team, I also spend time with my band writing songs for use both on Sundays as well as out and about in the community. The band is called Elysian Sky, and we hope to be introducing more and more songs in the days to come. These we don't have on recording that is released yet, though we are working on it. Here's a few that we currently play.
Offering: (I'm so far from perfect, so far from You...I surrender, I surrender) This one will soon be available on CD in our bookstore.
Something's Got to Give: (I know, where I want to be, and I know that this place is far away from here...Something's got to give, something's got to break, something's got to move, I'm ready for a change)
Rise: (We will rise, we will rise, despite our fallen history, we will rise, we will rise, if we hold out for our destiny, we will rise, we will rise, despite our Eden compromise we will rise)
the Chase: (Here I am...Here I am...All I am...What can I do to see You again?) This song we played only once on November 2nd after I gave the sermon on Mary of Bethany. The song is about the sacrifice of worship she offered up.
Songs that there are no recordings of that we get asked about, at least none that are close to how we do them that I'm aware of:
Surface: (I'm falling closer, coming deeper...Holy, holy!...the angels sing over and over...)
Forever My Love: (The nails in Your hands, the nail in Your feet...)
Heaven is Calling Out: (And I will walk with my God, I will touch His face...)
Living Water (We are Hungry): (Lord, I want more of You...we are hungry, we are hungry for more of You!)
Blessed be the Name: (Blessed be the Name of the Lord, blessed be His glorious Name)
Dance: (I want to sing until I lose my voice...and I want to dance, in freedom I want to lose myself for good)
I Surrender: (I call out to You, my Lord...I surrender all to You, I give up my life to live for You...)
Rain: (Oh how I need You...And let Your love...rain down on me...)
Nature Song: (Mountains bow down...and the sea cries His name...Holy is the Lord, heaven and earth they cry...)
You Alone: (You alone are Father, You alone are good, You alone are Savior, You alone are God)
I'd say that's it for now...I'm sure there are more, but that's a lot of the real recurring songs we play...If you have any other questions about any other songs, just let me know...I also can send you a file with all of the chords typed up in a Word document if you play an instrument. Just let me know.
Take care...
