Near Death Experience...

The following story is 100% true. Nothing was made up or exaggerated.

WARNING: This blog is not for the faint of heart! Read with caution!

In the past, I've often woken up in the night convinced that I had seen spiders, three different occasions to be exact. To this day I'm not totally convinced that they were dreams. I still think I was awake and had opened my eyes to find that they were real. That makes me feel better, since on one particular instance I did wake my wife up in a frantic manner and rush us into the bathroom for protection. Then after slowly checking under all the sheets and under pillows, I decided that the offending creature got away.

But this isn't what happened the other night. No, that would be okay... spiders are scary and all, especially in the middle of the night, and if you sleep with a limited amount of clothes and especially if you sleep with your mouth open. But this was far worse...unimaginable if you will... something I would never wish on anyone. To be honest it's hard to even recount the story without getting teared up. It was one of those events that changes your outlook on life forever...

At around 3am, I woke up, grabbed my wife to wake her up because my worst nightmare had come true... Yes, you guessed it...there were JPGs in my bed.

For those of you that may not be computer saavy, JPGs are a filetype that is an image or graphic, and I had them in my bed. Yes I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but I assure you, I acted fast enough and Katie and I are safe thanks to my quick reflexes. I woke her up, and she was noticeably scared when I said "Be careful, be careful, don't lay down! You're gonna lay on a JPG!" "What?! What?!" she proclaimed, "What are you talking about, what's wrong?" "A JPG!" I exclaimed. "I know it sounds like I'm dreaming, but I'm not, trust me."

I tell you what, had it not been for my swiftness and my keen eyes to see JPGs in the dark, I hate to even think of where we might be right now. I don't know exactly how many there were...but I sure didn't want to find out. We are just lucky to be able to even tell this story.

Since this night, our marriage has grown stronger, our faith has been challenged but we are looking forward to a brighter tomorrow. I have cut back on the time I spend building our church website, which is where I believe the JPGs found me in the first place. Nonetheless, I just wanted to share this experience with all of you, in hopes that if you encounter a JPG that you would be swift, be nimble, and please, by all means, take it seriously, don't mess around. GIFs and BMPs, no problem. They are docile and harmless to most humans and not likely to attack. PNG and PSD files, sure they can be tricky, but much more rare than the others, and unlikely that they will approach you. But JPGs, very common in our society, and very tempermental.

If you have had any of your own experiences with JPGs or other type of predator that most people are uneducated about, please post here and share your stories. Because knowing is half the battle.
